Christian Science was first lovingly presented to me by a friend sixteen years ago, when our son, then about eight months old, had been under the care of a physician for some time, suffering from malaria. The doctor had used every means that he knew of to prevent the return of the chills and fever, but without success. The child was healed in a very few treatments by a Christian Science practitioner. A short time after this I was healed of acute indigestion, which had become chronic.
When a young woman I fell and injured my spinal column. At first it did not seem to cause much trouble, but as time went on the condition grew worse and the suffering became so intense that I was obliged to spend a large part of the time in bed, and it was seldom that I would get a night's rest. After continuing for almost fourteen years this condition was overcome in six weeks by Christian Science treatment.
The physical healing for which our entire family is most grateful was that of our youngest daughter, then seven years old. While playing near a fire her clothing became ignited, and before the flames could be extinguished her back, right arm, and hip were very badly burned. A practitioner was called immediately, and about twenty minutes later the pain was met and the child fell asleep. She did not complain of pain after that except when it was necessary to place clean bandages over the burns. This was not a rapid healing, the little one being compelled to lie in one position for thirty days, during which time she was able to turn her head only two or three times. The accident took place on the first day of August, and she was not able to go to school until the first of the following year.
