Gratitude to God and to Christian Science prompts me to give my testimony. For four years I suffered from a nervous stomach complaint and great physical weakness. I could eat only very little, and even that caused me discomfort, so that gradually I was afraid to eat anything. This physical suffering had so affected my mind that my life was almost a burden to me. In spite of all the medical remedies I applied I continued to grow worse.
In the summer of 1926 a Christian Scientist lent me some Christian Science pamphlets, but I could not understand them, because I had not the slightest comprehension of this religion. The nervous complaint continued to grow worse, so that I could work only with difficulty. Quite unexpectedly in March, 1927, I was again reminded of Christian Science, and in my need I decided to call upon a practitioner. With great love and patience the truth concerning God and man was explained to me. In spite of my slight understanding, after treatment had been lovingly given for a short time I felt like one born anew. Since then I have not taken a drop of medicine, and, thanks be to God, can eat anything without discomfort. Life and work are a joy to me again. The Wednesday evening testimony meeting is now, in spite of former prejudice, an hour of real refreshment. I thank God from the bottom of my heart for Christian Science; also Mrs. Eddy, who discovered again the wonderful Christ, Truth.—St. Margrethen, Switzerland.
