While I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing, many discordant conditions have been overcome, among them a fibroid tumor that the doctor had said could be cured only by an operation and a dislocated knee joint of long standing. Eyeglasses which oculists had told me I would always have to wear have been discarded. These are only a few of the blessings experienced. While grateful for the physical healings, I am even more grateful for the spiritual uplifting and the better understanding of God I have received.
In 1911 there came a call over the telephone asking if a little one just out of the hospital, where he had been born over a year before, could be taken to board. He had been born with a disconnected spine, and with gums in such a shape that the doctors said to have teeth would be impossible, and they declared that he would never hold his head up. It was therefore decided to try Christian Science. The baby was brought to the home on a pillow. Work was at once taken up; the moaning which had been incessant soon ceased, and in a month the little one was sitting on the floor playing; and his first tooth was through. In the months following, spinal meningitis, measles, pneumonia, scarlet fever, and whooping cough manifested in an alarming form, were all quickly and entirely overcome by Truth.
After two years and three months the baby was taken to another home where the people were not Christian Scientists. In a month the call came, "Can you take the baby back?" The people were alarmed because he did not have the use of his limbs and could not stand on his feet, and they were planning to put him in a hospital and have his limbs put in iron braces. The mother wanted him to have Science treatment again, and her request was acceded to. In three weeks he was not only walking, but running about, happy and well. Years have passed, and he is now a fine, healthy young man. More than one dentist has said that he has as fine a set of teeth as can be found in any mouth. He is a living example of what the truth rightfully applied can and does do. This is one of the many demonstrations the writer has seen manifested.
