About two years ago Christian Science was brought to me by a person who was already familiar with it and to whom I told all my troubles. This woman asked me, "Are you a believer?" I replied that I followed no religion; that as I had always been courageous and honest, as it seemed to me, and never had wished anyone ill, if there was a God He would have come to my assistance. But I had only trouble. I was involved in lawsuits; my home was sold and my ruin seemed complete, morally as well as physically. All of this worry had produced a painful disease of the intestines which necessitated a serious operation. My case was regarded as very serious, for after the operation I was not allowed to exert myself in the least; I had to submit to a great deal of hygienic care, to have treatments, and to wear a special supporting bandage.
The person alluded to lent me several pieces of Christian Science literature, and told me to go to a practitioner, which I did. The latter invited me to attend a Christian Science service, and when I went one Sunday morning I was greatly impressed with the harmony and peace. Since then I have been a regular attendant at the Sunday services and the Wednesday testimony meetings. After having several Christian Science treatments, I did away with all medicines, flannels, and the bandage, declaring that my Father-Mother God takes care of everything. Since then I have been well and have experienced no discomfort.
I wish to express deep gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for her beautiful discovery, which proves to us that we are the children of God. My greatest desire is to glorify God for all His blessings; to progress more and more in divine understanding, and to know that evil is unreal, since it is no part of God's creation.
