It is your meeting! How many of us are conscious that this message is being given to each attendant at the Wednesday meetings when the Reader announces that the meeting is open for "experiences, testimonies, and remarks on Christian Science" (Church Manual, p.122)? Herein is the invitation to speak, and the assurance that suitable remarks will be welcomed. Here also should be understood the individual challenge, It is your meeting.
Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has written in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 206), "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all," so we know that when we testify to the blessings we have received, the seeds sown in good ground are bound to yield a rich harvest.
Vital to the spread of Christian Science, and important enough to occupy a goodly space in Christian Science periodicals, testimonies of healing bear witness to the regenerating power of Christian Science, to the putting on of the new man and the renewing of the mind, in obedience to the Scriptural admonition. The public testimony meetings established that grateful persons might testify to the healing power of divine Love, have reversed, at least to this extent, the habit of gathering in groups and discussing materially the ailments, ills, and operations of all and sundry. They are intended to establish on a spiritual foundation a means of public praise to God for the overcoming of ailments and ills by Truth; for the operation of spiritual law in the healing of disease.
