SPRINGTIME

From the May 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Spring steals upon the world;
Nor storm, nor heat, nor lightning shock arrests
Her coming; silently,
She comes to earth asleep in winter's shade;
Joyful, we see a primrose in the glade,
A leaf uncurled.
Spring steals upon the world.

Truth steals upon the heart;
It brings no sudden change, or fear of loss,
But growth of kindnesses,
And purer thoughts and healing words and deeds—
The starlike thoughts from heavenly seeds
That silent start.
Truth steals upon the heart.

Love lights the view!
A transcendental vision, not too bright
For upward-seeking eyes,
That softly shining, paints our dawn with rose,
Brightens each care, and will at length disclose
God's image true.
Love lights the view!
