"They went forth, . . . the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following." I am grateful to Christian Science for many things, especially for the help it has given me in solving perhaps two of the most difficult problems of the day, that of supply and work, and of home. At a time when everything seemed to have vanished overnight, the understanding I had gained in Christian Science of God and His perfect creation, and man's unity with and inseparability from Him, brought about the "signs following." I very soon obtained employment. At first I was not happy in it, but as I steadfastly clung to the fact that God is All-in-all, and that God, good, governs everything, I was brought into more harmonious surroundings.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for our Hymnal. It comforted me in sorrow. The hymn beginning, "Pilgrim on earth, home and heaven are within thee," helped me to demonstrate home.
A healing I had when I was in India stands out vividly. Two boils appeared on my chin. I was then staying with some people who were not Scientists, and I did feel a bit frightened, because there was no one interested in Science near to help me or with whom I could talk; but I turned to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and to the Bible and found that the Lord is indeed "a very present help in trouble." I had no pain, and after a few days the boils opened naturally and discharged.
