Testimonies of Healing

From earliest childhood questions...

From the August 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From earliest childhood questions concerning religion perplexed me. Being of Jewish birth, I found it confusing to have a line drawn between Jew and Christian; and I longed for one religion which would embrace all mankind. The first thing I understood in Christian Science was that because of the understanding of God's spiritual law which Jesus had, he could perform the works which he did; and that in proportion as mortals reflect the Mind which was in Christ Jesus, in that proportion can they, too, emulate his works. My gratitude is unbounded for a religion that is leavening the religious thought of the world and that is fulfilling the promise in the Bible of one God and one people.

I soon realized that Christian Science heals physical discords. When a young student I was instantaneously healed of tonsillitis, which had often appeared in painful form; also of eczema and ivy poisoning. About eight years ago I was healed of the most severe cold I had ever experienced by realizing the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health (p. 228),"Nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God;" and I have not had a cold since that time. Truth prevents as well as heals disease, and it is with great joy that I testify to the fact that from 1913 to this date I have not spent a day in bed on account of illness. I attribute abounding health to the application of the truth taught in Christian Science, that God sustains man in perpetual and unbroken perfection, and that the suggestions and arguments of sickness should be promptly and vigorously denied.

In my business life discordant conditions have been nullified many times by my knowing that the divine Mind is the only Mind, and that this one Mind—not minds many, conflicting minds, or clashing willsgoverns, is supreme, and protects against all that would harm or hurt. On one occasion, when it seemed as though error were trying to displace me, I persistently maintained in consciousness that divine Principle holds man eternally in his rightful place; that unprincipled forces are unreal and powerless, and that man cannot be deprived of the good which God bestows. Whenever I thought of the persons who seemed to be harming me, I declared that Love alone governs the universe and in Love there is no room for antagonism, animosity, or ill feeling. Soon a great sense of harmony was manifested and happy relationships were established.
