Christian Science came to me during childhood as a result of my mother's healing of invalidism; and it is a joy to realize that she could not have given me a richer blessing or a more lasting inheritance. When I was a child, this eternal truth brought to me an increase of health and harmony, freedom from fear, and an awakening to man's capabilities which enabled me to be a successful student throughout my school and college life.
How happy and grateful I am that the revelation of Christian Science, as given by Mary Baker Eddy, is the truth about God, man, and the universe, and that this Science is the ever-present solution for all the ills of mankind! In my experience, measles, smallpox, chicken pox, stomach disorders, colds, influenza, ptomaine poisoning, and other physical difficulties have yielded quickly to God's healing power; while the bones in a badly crushed foot and ankle were set within a few hours through the application of Christian Science alone. I have recovered lost and stolen articles by realizing the oneness and justice of the infinite Mind, God; and unemployment, lack, and unhappiness have been replaced with activity, supply, and joy.
At one time I found myself in a wilderness of human circumstances which seemed unbearable to me, and from which there appeared to be no possible means of escape. For many months I had applied Christian Science to the best of my ability and had had much help from a faithful Christian Science practitioner, but conditions grew steadily worse. The fear, hatred, unhappiness, and mental depression which had taken possession of my thought manifested themselves physically, and the arguments of death became so aggressive that I not only wanted to die but also thought death to be inevitable.
