"FEED MY SHEEP"

From the February 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Go feed my sheep, the Master said
With tender voice and low;
Go give to each the bread of Life,
To all my loved ones go.
And, Peter, if thou lovest and
Wouldst my disciple be,
Go speak to each the words of Truth
As thou hast learned of me.

Go raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Unto the blind give sight,
And tell to all the mighty truth
That wrong must yield to right.
How oft to weak and selfish hearts
This olden thought appears,
"Am I my brother's keeper?"—still
Comes drifting down the years!

Shall I deny myself because
Another's will is weak,
Content to follow after him,
The lowly one and meek?
Shall I for sad and wayward ones
My froward will resign,
Give up my own false sense of power,
Thus reaching the divine?

For no man liveth to himself,
And none can live alone.
All should in one great brotherhood
Give freely of their own.
For right is right, and God is good,
His love can never fail.
Throughout all time, in every place,
The righteous shall prevail.
