Fifteen years ago I began the study of Christian Science, after spending the greater part of two years in bed under the care of several different physicians, among whom were specialists. None was able to diagnose the physical ailment, which took the form of a rheumatic disease and produced intense pain at times. Since I had always been interested in medical theories, and not at all interested in any religious teaching, there seemed little to attract me in Christian Science. However, a practitioner worked for me for a number of weeks, and during this time our small daughter was healed in a few hours of scarlatina. This healing was the beginning of my genuine interest in Christian Science.
My own healing seemed very slow, but during the months that passed I witnessed healings of eye trouble, colds, influenza, quinsy, and numerous other physical difficulties. A severe case of oak poisoning was instantly met, and pain resulting from the removal of impacted wisdom teeth was eliminated, much to the amazement of the dentists who had done the work.
After several years of study, I received class instruction, which brought the great blessing of a clearer understanding of how to apply Christian Science.
