It is with joy that I give this testimony. For several years it has been my desire to take this step, but timidity about writing has held me back, and now I cannot put it off any longer. I have been a student of Christian Science for about thirty years, and have had many healings.
With the help of this truth I was given the strength to rear three children to fine womanhood and manhood. For a number of years the way seemed very dark, but we stood firm in Truth, and the light came. Sometimes I had to have a great deal of help from practitioners, who were always very loving and kind.
About four years ago I was awakened in the early hours of the morning with the sensation of passing on. When I tried to awaken my husband I found that I could neither move nor speak. This thought came like a clear voice: "Trials are proofs of God's care" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 66). My very being sang the words, and soon my husband sensed something wrong and spoke to me. For his love and kindness I shall always be grateful, since at that time he knew little about Christian Science. He called a friend, who was a student of Christian Science. This friend came to the house, worked quietly for some time, and then started to read from Science and Health. The first sentence he read was, "Trials are proofs of God's care." With that the mesmeric spell was broken, and I started to cry. Later he left, but sent his wife over to be with me. and by the time she arrived I was fast asleep. In a short time I awakened, arose, and walked out into the yard. I was healed, and have been free ever since.
