Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It teaches us to know God as He is, how to approach Him through right prayer, and how to avail ourselves of His love.
Before taking up the study of Christian Science I was a great believer in medicine and looked to material remedies for help instead of to God, Principle. Since I did not at that time understand God, I did not understand the meaning of the Lord's Prayer, although I repeated it faithfully. I had heard of Christian Science, but fear of giving up medical aid kept me from accepting it, until one day I had to choose between God and material means. My little daughter had been under the physician's care most of her life, and the day came when he gave no encouragement. I turned to the Bible for help, and learned that Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son for God, and when he was humble enough to give all to God, his son was spared.
Accepting this lesson at the critical moment, I called up a practitioner, and while talking to her my child had an instantaneous and complete healing. This opened my eyes to the power of God which is available through the study of Christian Science.
