Concerning the chapter "Recapitulation" in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy declares (p. 465), "Absolute Christian Science pervades its statements, to elucidate scientific metaphysics." While pondering the questions and answers contained in this chapter, one is indeed impressed with the absoluteness of the spiritual facts set forth therein. The student of Christian Science soon realizes that only as he is faithful in claiming and working on the basis of the truths of "absolute Christian Science" can he see them manifested in his daily life.
When a patient applies to a Christian Science practitioner for help, he is not merely turning to a person. He is primarily turning to God, to Truth and Love; and Truth and Love never fail. Christian Science presents positive facts, absolute truths—the Word of God. In proportion as the practitioner accepts the Word of God, rendered applicable through his study of Christian Science, as he clearly realizes the presence and power of the truth for his patient, satisfactory results are forthcoming.
How often we have heard the remark, "Yes, I know that in reality I have my healing, but it is not yet manifested." Or it might be some expression which implies that when one has met a certain financial obligation things are going to be easier. But such a one may find that having fulfilled an obligation, another quite as pressing is waiting to be met. All such remarks indicate the hope for a future release from limitation, the supposition of an unfinished state of God s infinite bestowals. If we judge by the testimony of the material senses, all this may seem very real and true; but in Science the absolute fact of the presence and power of God, good, is forever established, and through understanding is now made manifest.
