I am taking this opportunity to give thanks to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the many blessings I have received.
As a child I was brought up in an orthodox Sunday school. Later my parents passed on, and I went to live in the home of a relative. I was taken to a Christian Science Sunday School, and immediately I found myself peaceful and at ease. I did not cry and want to be taken home, as I had done in the other Sunday school, but enjoyed that first day and the many Sundays which followed. I even went to Sunday school alone quite often, though I was only a little fellow.
I did not seem to grasp the truth at first, but at each lesson a seed of Truth was planted. After I became a young man, a goiter developed. After asking a practitioner for help, I relied entirely on the teachings of God, as I had been taught to do in the Sunday school. Discouragement and fear appeared, as material remedies and suggestions were daily recommended by my co-workers; but, as a result of the loving truths presented by the practitioner, slowly but surely my thoughts began once more to reflect love and gratitude to God.
