Since I became a student of Christian Science, twenty odd years ago, it has been my only help through the many trials which have confronted me.
Through the truth contained in the statement in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 410), "The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love," I was instantaneously healed of the effects of a dogbite. I had been asked to go upon a porch where the dog was. It was considered very vicious and was usually penned when any person other than a member of the family was there. As soon as the dog saw me, it sprang towards me and bit my hand. As the hand and arm immediately began to be discolored, I excused myself and went home to work in Christian Science. I first filled my heart with love for the owner of the dog, and then began to prove the above statement of our Leader's. In a few minutes I was entirely free and able to prepare the dinner for the evening. No one in the family knew of the incident until days later.
I am very grateful for the help which I experienced while pinned under an automobile that had been overturned in an accident. After the car was righted, I was taken out with only a cut on the nose and a burn on the arm, and I was able to go home and attend to my regular duties, with no inconvenience whatsoever. I knew that divine Love was always protecting me, and I have never forgotten the peace I felt while under the car.
