For some time I have wanted to send to our periodicals a testimony of the healing power of Christian Science, but I felt I must be quite sure that it really was a Christianly scientific healing, and not one of blind faith alone.
I now have positive proof that, when correctly applied, Christian Science heals sickness. A week prior to the time when we had arranged to take a holiday, and booked our passage, I was attacked by a very painful condition of the throat and glands, accompanied by extreme weakness. Three days before the time we were expecting to leave, I was still in bed, and the condition was apparently getting worse. During the evening my husband called the practitioner who was helping me, to report that there was no improvement in the condition, and we were given helpful counsel and quotations from our Leader's writings, which encouraged us to hold to Truth and be unafraid.
Towards midnight I seemed to be worse, and asked for some hymns to be read from our Hymnal. About half past twelve a sense of peace and joy, such as I had never before experienced, pervaded my consciousness, and the words from the Bible came, "And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him." Through the consecrated help of the practitioner, our lamps were kept burning, and we were ready to go in to the feast. I sat up and was able to speak normally, and was so full of joy and gratitude that I did not want to sleep but went on reading hymns for over an hour.
