Christian Science is the law of God, available in every human situation, and to be learned and applied by every individual.
This Science, or demonstrable law of God, was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy because her consciousness, eagerly longing for spiritual understanding, was pure enough to discern the facts of spiritual being. In proportion as each one has this desire for the understanding of true being, thought rises to the point where it is ready to receive the spiritual facts discovered by Mrs. Eddy and willingly to relinquish the false concept of life in matter.
A line from a hymn in the Christian Science (Hymnal reads No. 194), "The heart's own longing lifts it high," and through this deep longing come the blessings that result from spiritual thinking. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes (Pref., p. vii), "The wakeful shepherd beholds the first faint morning beams, ere cometh the full radiance of a risen day." To him who is watchful, waiting, alert, ever mindful of his present highest sense of duty, there comes the enlightening, regenerating, redeeming light of Truth, which leads into paths of peace.
