It is recorded that on one occasion "all the people" came to the prophet Jeremiah saying, ''Pray for us ... that the Lord thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do." In days of world tumult and restlessness, there comes to the thought of the people of our time the same desire. When difficulties seem insurmountable, men turn more unreservedly to God for help. In doing so they have often discovered a new way to think and live, which has not only satisfied their innermost longings but solved their problems. For such a way of deliverance is ever available.
We have but to consider the experience of Moses at the Red Sea and of Daniel in the lions' den to be assured that these men found and utilized a true way of deliverance. Through the teachings of Christ Jesus and of Christian Science there is revealed to mankind this true way. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 171), "Through discernment of the spiritual opposite of materiality, even the way through Christ, Truth, man will reopen with the key of divine Science the gates of Paradise which human beliefs have closed, and will find himself unfallen, upright, pure, and free, not needing to consult almanacs for the probabilities either of his life or of the weather, not needing to study brainology to learn how much of a man he is."
At first it may seem surprising that "through discernment of the spiritual opposite of materiality" the way is found. So educated has mankind become in seeking the solution for its troubles in materiality that one must look to that which at first may seem unknown to him, namely, to the spiritual order of God's creation. He may ask himself: "Where is the opposite of materiality? How am I to find it?"
