When Ruskin replied to the political economists of his day, he summed up his findings in the comprehensive statement, "There is no wealth but life." Such a declaration is not strange to the student of Christian Science, who knows that God is Life, Spirit, true substance.
For about seventy-five years Christian Science has been teaching its students how to turn from belief in matter as substance to the understanding of God as the only real substance, ever present, indestructible, ever active; and in the degree that they gain this understanding they can prove it to be true.
In his letter to the Romans, Paul speaks of "the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God;" and in Proverbs we read: "Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? . . . Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. . . . That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures."
