Simple wayside observations frequently quicken one's thought to discern spiritual facts. A student of Christian Science, sitting on a garden bench where he had paused for a few moments, noticed that when he focused his gaze upon the mud at the bottom of a small pool, he saw nothing else. But when he lifted his gaze to the surface of the water, he saw beautiful green trees and billowy white clouds mirrored there. Was this a needed lesson in answer to his prayer? Had he not been contemplating the error in his experience so intently that he had temporarily lost sight of spiritual reality? He determined to change his mental vision from matter to Spirit and endeavor to see as God sees.
God is all-seeing, infinite Mind. The entire spiritual universe is eternally within His cognizance. He is aware of the spiritual identity of each idea, from the least unto the greatest. Within the divine economy of being is perfect co-ordination of ideas, fulfilling perfectly their useful purpose. Therein is no lack, no waste, no inaction. Everything within divine Mind is complete and perfect.
Man, the highest idea of God, is always within the infinite divine consciousness. He has no existence separate from God. He is not a fallen child of God, seeking to regain his original perfection. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 79): "Immortal man is the eternal idea of Truth, that cannot lapse into a mortal belief or error concerning himself and his origin: he cannot get out of the focal distance of infinity." Man is never out of his Father's sight; he is never beyond the radiance of Love. What a comfort it is to realize this spiritual fact when one is tempted to believe himself separated from God!
