It is with deep gratitude that I give this testimony. I have had numerous proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science.
At one time, as I was going about my daily duties, I was nearly overpowered by a sudden attack of dysentery, vomiting, and nose-bleeding. As best I could, I quickly said over and over again the Lord's Prayer. Being entirely alone in the house at the time, I was very grateful that I had Christian Science, for without it I could not have managed at all. When I could get a message to a Christian Science friend for help I did so, and I am indeed grateful for this loving one who stood by and strengthened me. Other alarming symptoms appeared, with fever, but knowing I was being helped I was thankful, and gradually, one by one, these things were met and destroyed.
I did not go to bed, for I had the responsibility of caring for two little children. I rested as much as I could, however, and I was enabled to do all the duties necessary and also take care of myself, knowing that in reality God was protecting the children and me. This condition continued for a few days, and although I was much alone, messages were sent to and from the dear friend who helped me, and soon I was able to think more clearly and use my limbs more freely. The twenty-third Psalm, with its spiritual interpretation, to be found on page 578 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, gave me great comfort; also, the beautiful words from Isaiah 40:9; and I was soon able to go to church and give my testimony of healing.
