The change which has taken place in my thinking, and consequently in my daily experience, during the years that I have been studying Christian Science, increases my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy. When understood, Science meets all human needs.
I was once bound by the supposed need of dosing with medicine, but from the day that I began to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I was freed from that bondage, as well as the physical ailments. Bowel action, which from early youth seemed to need medical stimulus, became normal instantly and has remained so for over twenty years. Although for years I had been underweight from poor health, my weight again became normal.
At a Wednesday evening meeting over fifteen years ago, I heard a testimony given in which the speaker said he was healed of the tobacco habit when he became aware that man as God's image is not bound by material habits. At that time I was a smoker, selfishly asleep in the argument that I smoked with moderation. The truth of the statement in the testimony healed me instantly of this false appetite, and has been helpful in enabling me to express freedom along other lines of bondage and limitation.
