Testimonies of Healing

It is with loving gratitude for the...

From the November 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with loving gratitude for the countless blessings that have come to me through study and application of Christian Science over a period of many years, and to the power of Truth to heal the errors of mortal mind, even so-called incurable habits, that I give this testimony. My earnest desire is that it may reach some receptive hearts so they may be reassured that "Truth is always the victor" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 380).

One instance I should particularly like to relate. I was going up the steps to my home one evening when I tripped and fell forward onto the concrete porch. As I arose I declared some statements of truth as we are taught, but the pain seemed very great, and fear presented itself that the kneecap was badly injured and the little finger was probably broken. My fear increased as I thought about my work, which necessitates many hours at the typewriter. I tried to read, but to no avail, so retired; but the pain only increased.

In the morning the little finger was so badly swollen that I was unable to type with that hand. I called a practitioner, who lovingly assured me that "accidents are unknown to God" (ibid., p. 424). She told me that all was well, that error could not keep me from my rightful activity. She gave me some references from the Bible and Science and Health to read, and I studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science quarterly. After several hours of study and meditation I was able to forget my finger. I sat down to my typewriter as usual and rejoiced to find that I could type easily. This demonstration seemed wonderful to me, and in a few days the finger was back to its normal size. Words cannot express my deep gratitude for that healing.
