The Christian Scientist, knowing that God is the only Mind, knows also that the only metaphysics entitled to be so called is divine metaphysics. This was the great truth which Christ Jesus set forth when he declared, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand."
So long as men accept metaphysics as emanating from the human mind, they are engaged in the adjustment and compromise of contradictory evidence. Physicists have in large measure come to recognize that the world in which we live is a mental world. Thus we find Sir James Jeans declaring that the universe is little more than a construct of our own mind. This acknowledgment, however, still leaves the main problem unsolved. It can be solved once and for all only when it is understood that man possesses a kingdom which cannot be brought to desolation—a house which cannot be divided against itself. This was the man, revealed by Christ Jesus, to whom all things are given in heaven and in earth. This is the man who has power over all the power of the enemy. This is the man set forth in the Science of Christianity by Mary Baker Eddy.
On page 69 of "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy has written: "Christian Science is the unfolding of true metaphysics; that is, of Mind, or God, and His attributes. Science rests on Principle and demonstration. The Principle of Christian Science is divine. Its rule is, that man shall utilize the divine power." How fraught with import is the last sentence!
