I am very happy to relate a few of the many blessings and healings we have experienced through the study of Christian Science in the past fourteen years.
Following a serious operation from which I did not fully recover, I carelessly leafed through a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which belonged to a friend, and came upon the words, "Life, Truth, and Love," as a description of God. I had an instantaneous healing while contemplating those words. Later I earnestly began to study Christian Science for the healing of one of our children, who had a kidney affliction. This healing, although slow, was finally accomplished through my understanding of the truth contained in an editorial in the Sentinel.
I am increasingly grateful for the healing of failing eyesight. The pain was so severe that I could not read. I thought about spiritual discernment, and decided that 1 must see as God sees, that is, see my fellow beings and myself as God sees man, perfect. Then it occurred to me that it was believed measles had affected my eyes when I was quite young. I read on page 214 of Science and Health, "Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul, and there are no other real senses;" also, on page 486: "Sight, hearing, all the spiritual senses of man, are eternal. They cannot be lost." Then I knew that sight could not be affected by a belief of disease. I also realized that there was in reality no material sight to be healed, that spiritual sight was the only sight and that it was forever perfect. This exchanging of a material belief of sight for spiritual perception, which resulted in my healing, has been invaluable to me in my Christian Science work.
