My gratitude for Christian Science and all its activities established by Mrs. Eddy is inexpressible. I started attending the Christian Science Sunday School after seeing my mother healed of hay fever. She had tried a great many material remedies for the cure of this malady. A friend lovingly advised her to seek the aid of a Christian Science practitioner. She went to see one during her lunch hours, and they read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Before the book was finished, the hay fever had vanished.
Up to the age of thirteen I had attended different orthodox Sunday schools. After seeing my mother's healing, I began to attend a Christian Science Sunday School. I had always loved the experiences told in the Bible, and desired to be able to do the things that Jesus did. Not long after I began attending Sunday school, many problems appeared, giving me the opportunity to prove the healing power of Christian Science.
One of my healings was that of granulated eyelid. I memorized "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of Science and Health, and worked the best that I knew how at that time. One Sunday a Christian Scientist worked for me, and the discoloration then disappeared. However, my thought was not ready to accept the complete healing, and no further progress was realized. Several months later the eye almost completely closed. My mother advised me to call a practitioner and stay home from school until I had worked out my problem. This practitioner to whom I telephoned worked for me, and I read with my right eye. At noon a great sense of joy came over me, and I could see with the left eye the sunlight streaming through the window. Not long afterward this eye opened to the normal size of the right eye. My eyes and ears were tested for a driver's license not long ago, and my vision and hearing were recorded as perfect.
