With a grateful heart I should like to bear witness to a wonderful healing I experienced through the truth as taught in Christian Science.
It was more than fifteen years ago that I turned to Christian Science for healing. I became ill and consulted our family physician, who shook his head gravely and pronounced the condition very serious. Although I had read parts of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I had never earnestly studied it, nor had I demonstrated its healing power.
I found my illness becoming more and more alarming, although I was obeying all the doctor's orders. One day I overheard the doctor tell my sister that if the hemorrhage continued I could not live more than a few weeks at most. It was then that I determined to turn to a higher power. I ceased taking medicine and called a Christian Science practitioner. My symptoms did not abate for a long time. I seemed to be standing still, getting neither better nor worse; but I was kept comfortable, and I continued to study Science and Health. It was necessary for me to learn to think differently. There was a lifelong habit of anxiety, fear, and worrying to overcome, and I needed to gain confidence in the healing power of God. As my thought cleared I began to grow in the understanding of Truth. With my spiritual progress the symptoms lessened.
