When Christian Science was called to...

From the December 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Christian Science was called to my attention I was out of employment and we were burdened with financial problems. At the recommendation of my sister, I began the study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

For some years I had worn glasses for the correction of astigmatism. Every few months I went to an oculist to have the glasses adjusted to meet the changing condition of the eyes, which were getting gradually worse. A few days after I started studying the textbook, the pages became blurred while I was reading. My first thought was, "I shall have to see the oculist again." For a while I remained in my chair meditating. Then, for no particular reason, I removed my glasses. The book was still open in front of me and without premeditation on my part I looked toward it, and found that I could see all right. After this glorious experience I began to attend a Christian Science church and turn to practitioners for help.

That was thirty years ago and I have not worn glasses since. Even medical science confirms the healing, because I have served in the Army in both World War I and the present war. The examining physician in World War I recorded that I had normal vision. The physician this time recorded some slight variation, but nothing that required glasses.
