When Christian Science was first presented to me I was very unhappy and in such bad health that I was taking medicine every two hours to relieve pain caused by stomach and bowel trouble. At that time my husband and I were living apart. I was working, leaving our two small children with my mother. One night when I was very much discouraged, business took me to a Christian Science home where interest was shown in my affairs. These dear people explained that my thinking needed to be corrected, and they brought Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to my attention. I borrowed a copy of this book and began to study.
As a result of this study my attitude towards my husband changed so much that, when he next came to my mother's home to see the children, he asked me to find a place where I could stay with the children, saying he would pay the expenses. As soon as I found a place, he came every Sunday to remain with the children while I attended Christian Science church services. I found I could make my experience harmonious by studying and applying the rules given in Science and Health. We soon decided to start our married life over with a better understanding. That was twenty-five years ago, and in the succeeding years we have experienced much happiness, for which we give Christian Science the credit.
Our youngest child was born after I became interested in Christian Science and he was brought up without the use of material remedies in times of sickness. An older son, who appeared to be passing on from diphtheria when he was six and a half, is now a chief boatswain's mate in the Navy. He is a deep sea diver, which proves that a Christian Science healing is permanent and leaves no bad aftereffects.
