Christian Science came into my experience about fifteen years ago, after one of the best authorities on medicine had told me that he could do no more for me. My sister wrote me that in spite of what the doctor had said, she knew that I could be healed in Christian Science.
My husband and I both took up the study of this Science and began attending church services, especially the Wednesday evening meetings, where testimonies of healing were given. We put into practice what we learned and understood of this healing truth, and very soon were able to overcome many inharmonious conditions. One of my first healings was of constipation of several years' standing. I was completely healed, and the healing has been permanent.
As we gained a greater understanding that God gives us an abundance of good, and that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494), we had a beautiful healing of lack. Shortly after we were married my husband's salary was greatly reduced, and there were so many bills to pay we just could not make ends meet. We worked almost all one night on the problem, trying to realize that God does supply our needs. The next morning I went down to pay the rent on our house. The manager of the company which owned all the houses in the section where we lived, called me into the office and said that they had noticed how nicely we kept our lawn and yard, and that we could have our rent free if we would look after the houses in the development. He added that if a house should be sold we would be paid fifty dollars for having shown it.
