On page 208 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, says, "You embrace your body in your thought, and you should delineate upon it thoughts of health, not of sickness." My testimony is given as a proof of this statement and as encouragement for others to know that they can rely completely on Christian Science for healing.
This Science had been presented to me many times over, a period of eight years before. I finally accepted it. A relative who was a Scientist often brought literature for me to read, but it was always destroyed instead of read. My concept of Christian Science was very distorted and my fear of it was great. This relative was unable to attend church for some time. My love for her was great enough to overrule my fear, and it impelled me to offer to take her to church on a Wednesday evening. This was a very bitter ordeal for me. The only enjoyment I derived was from the music and from the fact that the ushers spoke to us and smiled as we came in and as we left.
Arrangements were made for me to take her the next two Wednesday evenings, much to my discomfort. The second meeting was more to my dislike than the first, and it seemed necessary for me to have it definitely understood that the third meeting would be the last. I objected to the testifiers' praise of Mrs. Eddy. To my sense the praise was due solely to God.
