The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals and those given at Wednesday noon and evening services have brought me so much help and inspiration in my study of Christian Science that I wish to express my loving gratitude to God for the comfort, happiness, and healings which this Science has brought into my life.
When Christian Science was first presented to me I was not interested, but "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Eight years ago I was unable to do any work for three months because of a discordant condition in my back, which the doctor told me was likely to return. It did come back, and in my fear of being an invalid I turned to Christian Science.
I have always believed the words of Christ Jesus (John 14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." I went to a practitioner and borrowed the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Then I went home and cleaned out my medicine closet. For six days I read the book, not understanding it all but eager to know if this was the religion I had been searching for since I grew up. On the seventh day I accepted work which involved lifting a big child, but I held to the thought that God was my health, my strength, and gave me my understanding, and that I was joyous, happy, and free. When I went home that night I was free from pain and fear. As the beloved disciple declared (I John 4:18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear."
