Testimonies of Healing

A copy of "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures"...

From the January 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was put into my hands at a time when I was in a mental turmoil because of unhappy circumstances over which I appeared to have no control. I had read but a little of this book when I knew that I had found the truth for which I had always been searching. I continued to read, grateful for the peace and joy it brought me. Although I was suffering from the effects of sunstroke, I did not think of obtaining physical healing through Christian Science. At this time a medical specialist told me that it would take at least four years of treatment to improve my condition, and that there was little possibility that I should ever be entirely healed. After a day or two of medical treatment, the trouble seemed more painful. My one thought was that God would not sentence me to years of suffering. I decided to try Christian Science.

In a practitioner's office I felt the presence and love of God, and knew that I had touched a power that I had never known existed. This experience so uplifted me that I rejoiced in the beauty and inspiration of it. I did not think of the physical difficulty until the following day, when I found that I was healed. This healing has been complete and permanent.

Since then this Science has healed me of sinus trouble, indigestion, a sprained ankle, the seven-year itch, measles, influenza, the results of an accident, and many other difficulties. Colds have been instantaneously healed. I was healed of grief after the passing on of one dear to me; and at a time when my funds were low, my financial needs were met. These are but a few of the many blessings Science has brought me, but the greatest blessing of all is an increased understanding of God and of man's unity with Him. This understanding is changing my entire outlook and experience. It is making for me a new world, "wherein dwelleth righteousness" (II Pet, 3:13). I can say with the Psalmist' (Ps.16:11), "In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
