I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science Reading Rooms, for it was in such a room that I received my first healing in Christian Science.
For a number of years I had been a victim of Bright's disease, and I had reached the point where I could work no longer. While I wondered what I should do next, the thought came to me, Why don't you try Christian Science? For a while this puzzled me, because I had had no previous knowledge of this religion, nor had anyone ever recommended it to me. However, it was as plain to me as though someone had spoken that I should try Christian Science.
I remembered that I had seen a Christian Science Reading Room located near a theater in the business section of the city, and I went immediately to this room but found it closed. This was on a Saturday evening. On the door I read that it would be open from two to four o'clock the next day. I was there that Sunday afternoon when the doors opened. I picked up a book which I later found to be the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read until the attendant came and told me it was time to close the room. As I walked out I realized that I was completely healed. That was thirty years ago, and I have never had a return of that trouble or of any other kidney ailment.
