It is with gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. My introduction to this Science came through the healing in a very short time of an abdominal displacement suffered by a loved one. Grave doubts had been expressed by the medical profession of the ability of this one to stand an operation, owing to a suspected weakness of the heart. Seventeen years have passed since then, and this healing has given the one concerned joy in serving our movement.
At the time my husband had been without employment for two years, and it seemed impossible to obtain, with any degree of certainty, a suitable post. Having witnessed and been impressed by the above-mentioned healing, he began sincerely to study Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Almost immediately employment was offered him, and after many proofs of God's supply the way opened to a complete demonstration.
A few years afterward twins were born to us, and although the birth of the first child was harmonious, fear was expressed by the nurse that the second child would not be born alive. When the child did arrive, it was thought dead. I did not accept this verdict, and like a radiance of light the thought came to me: "Life cannot be contained in a body. This child is actually a spiritual idea, reflecting Life, God." Again and again this thought came to me, and after a while I noticed that the child was breathing. I called to the nurse, who took up the child, and to our great joy, we heard the little one cry out. Since that time both children have enjoyed a full, happy, and active life.
