DEMONSTRATION—GOD'S WILL DONE IN EARTH

From the December 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Demonstration means proof. As used in Christian Science, demonstration is proving the supremacy of divine law in human affairs. The application of this law to human problems is practical, since the specific fact concerning any lie destroys the lie and brings the truth to light. Demonstration is coincident with the acceptance of Christ, Truth, into human consciousness and the consequent awakened spiritual sense, before which sin, disease, and limitation give way to spiritual concepts of health, place, happiness, and supply.

The revelation of Christian Science that God is divine Principle, Love, and that man is made in His likeness furnishes the basis for demonstration. Man as the idea of Mind, the reflection of Spirit, and the manifestation of Love is ageless, without a single element of decay, degeneration, or impairment. He is not conscious of organic life, since there is none in reality. Life is God, and man evidences divine Life without beginning and without end. When they are spiritually understood and honestly and humbly applied, these facts concerning the nature of man, the image of God, heal disease. The operation of divine Principle in human consciousness is the law of elimination to evil.

Demonstrating divine Principle is letting God's will be done. Christ Jesus prayed (Matt. 6:10), "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." God's will is good and could not be otherwise, since the nature and character of God is good. Human will is the supposititious basis of evil and is not demonstrable, since error is chaotic, without Principle. Human will seems to hold mankind in the grasp of error until through the love of God they gain spiritual strength and waken from the dream of mortality sufficiently to claim and demonstrate man's God-given dominion.
