THE UNIVERSAL MISSION OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the December 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science reveals the allness of the one living God. It reveals God to humanity as infinite Truth, the universal cause and Principle of all being, which creates and constitutes all that exists. It enables the student to discern the fundamental spiritual fact of everything which he beholds. Its transforming power extends to all aspects of human experience and to all men.

No phase of individual experience lies beyond the healing power of Truth. Ultimately the fact will be seen and demonstrated that nothing can resist Truth's power and presence. At no stage is a discordant sense of life final. At no moment is evil supreme or irresistible. The individual can come to no point in his experience where Truth is not actually supreme. Christian Science is enabling its students to awaken to this profound fact and to demonstrate its meaning for themselves and for those who seek their help.

The comforting assurance of Truth's universal availability holds a prominent place in the great spiritual message unfolded by the Bible. Joseph in the Egyptian prison demonstrated that God's help is always available, no matter what the circumstances. Daniel, a captive in Babylon, proved the all-presence of Truth's protecting power in menacing situations. The Psalmist discerned that in the worst extremities we can turn to God for help and receive it. He sang (Ps. 139:8), "If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
