One year as the Christmas season drew near I felt the need of divine guidance before starting on a shopping tour. In opening a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, I found it was dated February 24, 1945. The thought came, Surely you can find a later periodical; you've read this one a number of times. But I was impelled to read an article entitled "Open for Testimonies," in which the writer had emphasized the importance of giving testimonies at the Wednesday meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist. I was so uplifted by the article that I forgot my worry over the shopping tour.
Then the thought came, That is a wonderful article; but what does it have to offer as a help in shopping for Christmas gifts? Immediately I had my answer: What greater gift could I offer than a testimony to the whole world of the healing power of divine Love?
On page 425 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we find these words: "Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew." Through the study and application of Christian Science for over thirty years I have proved the above statement to be true, for by being conscious of man's oneness, or unity, with God as His image and likeness I have been healed of many discordant conditions.
