Testimonies of Healing

I should like to tell of three of the many...

From the June 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to tell of three of the many healings I have received which have proved to me the healing power of Christian Science. A number of years ago I noticed a lump on my side about the size of a marble. At first I was fearful; then came the angel thought: "God never made this. It is nothing but an illusion of the material senses. The real man is spiritual and perfect." That night when I undressed, tire lump was entirely gone.

A similar problem required much more patient, consecrated study to solve. A growth appeared on my forehead. I tried to know the unreality of it and to see only God's perfect expression. The growth was near the hairline, so I could partially cover it, but I was very conscious of its unsightly appearance. Realizing that it was a material manifestation of a wrong sense of growth, I tried to overcome it by searching my consciousness for thoughts that were, not Godlike. In spite of all my work it continued to grow.

Finally I decided to talk the matter over with a practitioner, and in doing so I received many helpful thoughts, especially this one from "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 262): "God creates man perfect and eternal in His own image. Hence man is the image, idea, or likeness of perfection—an ideal which cannot fall from its inherent unity with divine Love, from its spotless purity and original perfection."
