Since becoming a student of Christian Science I have experienced many proofs of its healing and protective power. It is therefore with a grateful heart and with the hope of helping others that I write this testimony.
From childhood I had loved God and served Him in the best way I could through activity in an orthodox church. However, this did not bring me healing or satisfaction. I had always been considered delicate and was never free from some ailment or other. When Christian Science was presented to me I was suffering from gallstones. A friend saw my need and invited me to attend a Christian Science church service. I shall always be grateful that I accepted the invitation, for that service changed my whole life. The words of Mrs. Eddy's hymn "Love" (Poems, pp. 6, 7) and the way in which the Bible was read so impressed me that I was healed of the gallstones. Two weeks later the same friend, who afterwards became my husband, healed me through Christian Science treatment of violent nose-bleeding, which had occurred at intervals for a number of years. These healings have been permanent.
Most of my healings have been instantaneous; but one, which took place while I was serving as Second Reader in a branch church, took many months. This experience taught me valuable lessons, and though several times I felt that I was about to pass on and relatives begged me to have medical aid, I kept this thought always before me: "In truth I am a spiritual idea, and as such I am safe from all that is unlike good." Throughout this experience I was always at my post of duty, and no one but my relatives and immediate friends knew of the difficulty, even though while at home I could scarcely speak. Eventually the healing came, and with it came the determination to obey the commandments to love God supremely and my neighbor as myself.
