When I was a child my mother sent me to a Christian Science Sunday School for a short time; but I did not become interested in the teachings of Science until I began to search for a goal in life and for a constant and unfailing guide. At first my interest in this Science was manifested only in the desire to argue against it. However, while at college my thought suddenly changed within a few days, and all my doubts were dissipated. Since then Christian Science has been my unqualified ideal, giving me high standards of thought and action toward which to strive.
I have had innumerable blessings. Among them has been a swift healing of a badly broken ankle and a torn ligament, as well as the healing of airsickness, from which I had suffered for several years. Much protection was mine while I was flying as a Woman Air Forces Service Pilot during World War II and later as a civilian pilot in remote sections of Alaska. Problems concerning human relationships, home, and supply have been resolved. Church membership and class instruction have been a source of joy and progress.
One of my first experiences in seeing the operation of divine Principle in human affairs took place some years ago. I was flying an airplane over Los Angeles, California. My instructor picked up my jacket from the back of the seat, and it was whipped out of his hand and sucked through a narrow opening in the cockpit canopy. There was no way of knowing where the jacket might have landed. The suggestion of loss was distressing, as I had money and important papers in my wallet in the open pocket of the jacket.
