"Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered" (Ps. 40:5). I have great reason for gratitude, and I hope that my testimony will be of help to others.
A few years ago, when I was released from a hospital after a major operation, the doctor told me not to spend any more money, because there was nothing that would help me. I took morphine constantly to relieve the pain. A neighbor, whom I knew only casually, noticed that I was toiling along the street with the help of a cane. In reply to her sympathetic inquiry I told her that I had cancer of the abdomen, and that in the doctor's opinion I would live only about six months. Her reply that God can still help us even when we have been given up humanly gave me very little comfort. She gave me the address of a Christian Science practitioner and encouraged me to go to him. This I decided to do.
When I went he received me very kindly and gave me a brief explanation of Christian Science. At once I felt new strength and freedom from pain. I began to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, and to make use of its Reading Room. Everywhere I found kindness and love.
