At a Wednesday testimony meeting, a student of Christian Science related that another student had asked him why more testimonies of healing from his particular city did not appear in the Christian Science periodicals. The first student replied, "Have you written and submitted yours?" This remark awakened me to the realization that I had had numerous proofs of healing through the application of Christian Science and that I too had been very lax in setting forth my gratitude in writing so that readers of our beloved periodicals could learn of these healings and thereby be encouraged. For that reason I decided to get busy right away.
Some years ago when my youngest son was about eight, he manifested symptoms which alarmed me. After he had received extensive medical treatment, I took him to a well-known clinic in Chicago, Illinois, where there were a number of the best medical men in the country. The ailment was developing rapidly, and by the time my son was taken before the doctors, he was bordering on complete paralysis, hunchback, and several other defects. After a thorough examination one of the doctors told me kindly but firmly, "Nothing on earth can save this boy."
A neighbor and friend who was very fond of children had gone to Chicago with me. She had been studying Christian Science for some time, and that evening on the train going home I told her what the specialist had said. The phrase, "nothing on earth," kept running through my mind, and my friend recommended that I contact a Christian Science practitioner for help.
