In the Bible we read (Ps. 8:4-6):...

From the January 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Bible we read (Ps. 8:4-6): "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? ... Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet." Many times in the Bible the promise of man's God-given right to dominion over every belief of life in matter is reiterated.

Through the study of Christian Science it has become increasingly clear to me that every untoward circumstance, every unhappy or diseased condition, is an opportunity to prove man's dominion, his reflected ability to trample under foot all that our Father-Mother God did not make.

Three different times in my experience, opportunities have presented themselves to apply this truth in overcoming difficulties with my feet. During my late teens, when I first turned to Christian Science, I had a problem of infected warts. They were numerous and very painful. I turned to a Christian Science practitioner and poured out my troubles, most of which were the result of worry over a discordant home. When I left after my first visit with the practitioner, all I remembered of our talk was the verse from Isaiah (52:7), "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings." I felt as though I were walking on air! The healing was practically instantaneous.
