I have every reason to express great gratitude for the untold riches that Christian Science has poured out to me and for the many healings I have experienced, which include those of unlovely traits of character as well as those of a physical nature. I am also grateful for holy, inspiring hours of spiritual upliftment which we can always experience anew in indescribable beauty and in multifarious forms through the study of the Bible and of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy.
About eleven years ago I suffered from a kidney disease. I treated myself for weeks, using the truths found in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but found little relief. One day I was taken with such severe pain that I had to struggle with a great sense of fear of unconsciousness and death.
The suggestion kept coming to me that perhaps a doctor should be called. In my great distress I clung like a tired child to God and said: "I would' rather die than use any material remedy. Spirit, being God, is All, and there is no matter."
