"If it were not so"

From the November 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

He spoke of lilies given such attire
As that to which no monarch would aspire.
He spoke of sparrows, who were always able
To feed in plenty from the Father's table.
He bade us not be anxiously encumbered;
Indeed, he said our very hairs were numbered.
The Father's love and tender care enfold us;
Were it not so, the Master would have told us.
