The simplicity of my first demonstration as a young student of Christian Science will, I hope, help others who think they do not know enough of divine metaphysics or have not enough childlike confidence in God, good, to accomplish their own healings.
I was rooming in the house of one who had been quite deaf for twenty years and had not gone beyond her garden gate through fear of being run down. She had become interested in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
We studied together daily to help her to restore her hearing. Many times I thought she heard a little, so receptive was she to the truth; but there was no lasting proof of this even though a great change was taking place in her mental attitude. Kindness and gentleness were replacing selfishness and suspicion.
