When I was a young child I was healed of diphtheria, which had advanced to an alarming stage of aggressiveness. This healing was brought about when a Christian Science practitioner assured my parents of the ever-presence of God and of His loving care for all His children. This calmed the fear in their thinking, and the healing was instantaneous.
Some time later I was healed completely of a painful rupture which had troubled me for several years. In this case my family had loosed me immediately from human possessiveness, and my freedom was gained through their loving work and the consecrated prayers of a practitioner. This healing took place more than thirty years ago and has been permanent.
Another step in my experience was my complete protection from danger and destruction during four strenuous years in the infantry in World War II. One year of this service was spent continuously on the front lines, with no relief from daily contact with the enemy. In this experience I am particularly grateful for the loving support given by Christian Scientists the world over as they embraced us all in their daily prayers.
