God has been so very good to me that I wish to give humble, loving thanks through our periodicals. From the time I began to study Christian Science a few years after my graduation from high school, it has been my chief interest.
Most of my early years as a student of this Science were spent on my father's cattle ranch in the West. Since I was alone many hours of the day, I carried a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy with me and referred to it frequently.
During the long hours spent irrigating the ranch in the summer or feeding the cattle in the winter, I would ponder the wonderful truths I was learning or sing hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. Although little material progress was evident during this nine-year period, and I longed to be of greater service to God and man, I am sure I gained a basic understanding of Christian Science which I might never have attained under less solitary conditions.
